On Jan. 11, 2025, The Rotary Club of Boca Raton will host its annual Outstanding People And Leaders (OPAL) Gala honoring individuals who have made the community a better place through philanthropy and volunteerism. Chair Christine E. Lynn, along with co-chairs Jan Savarick and Neil Saffer, will recognize Marti LaTour and George T. Elmore, Marvin Rubin and his daughter Carrie Rubin, Diane and Larry Feldman and Rotarian Lifetime Legacy Award Recipient Bob Buruchian.
Festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception at Boca West Country Club, followed by a seated dinner, auction and program honoring OPAL Society’s newest members. This year’s event will also feature a special tribute celebrating the life and legacy of Spencer Siegel, a dedicated Rotarian who co-chaired the OPAL Gala for many years.
The OPAL Gala provides scholarships that transform the lives of students who would not otherwise attend college, and supports certificate and trade programs for firefighters and paramedics.
To ensure scholarship recipients succeed, The Rotary Club of Boca Raton assigns a mentor to each student, helps procure internship opportunities and assists them in finding jobs when they graduate. Supporting the gala creates a brighter future for these students and their families for generations to come.
The Boca Raton Observer is the event’s exclusive media sponsor.
