In its 19th year, the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation’s Go Pink Luncheon is the most revered women’s health event in South Florida.
One of the biggest reasons for its renowned reputation is the keynote speakers. From the comedic wit of Martin Short and Dr. Ken Jeong to the inspirational storytelling of Emmitt Smith and Joan Lunden — the list of impressive talent, that goes back since its inception — has been made possible by the Edward and Freyda Burns Enhanced Living Initiative.
This year Go Pink welcomes actress, designer and breast cancer survivor, Jaclyn Smith. Most recognized for her role as ‘Kelly Garrett’ on “Charlie’s Angels,” she also earned a Golden Globe nomination for her critically acclaimed portrayal of the legendary first lady in “Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy.” Diagnosed in 2002 with stage one breast cancer, Jaclyn underwent a lumpectomy followed by six weeks of radiation.
Community philanthropist Carrie Rubin serves as the luncheon chair and host of the event along with the luncheon’s Go Pink committee. This year’s luncheon will feature the ever-popular Pink Daisy Wall, a fabulous amenity for every guest and a Grand Prize drawing for a $5,000 Shopping Spree generously donated by preferred retail partner Saks Fifth Avenue. The Fund-a-Need Campaign raises funds for a key initiative aimed to improve women’s healthcare and services. It uses state-of-the-art, secure technology to donate from one’s cell phone.
Attendees are encouraged to wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Boca Raton Observer is the exclusive media sponsor.
The Go Pink Luncheon takes place on Oct. 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Boca Raton. For more information, call 561-955-4142 or visit donate.brrh.com/gopink.
