With the pandemic surging, Not My Daughter…find a cure now! had to find a new way to raise money to fight cancer since its annual luncheon was off the table.
So, on Nov. 26 the group held a modern telethon, using cellphones and Facebook Live to raise close to $100,000. Proceeds will benefit the Not My Daughter Patient Support Services Center at the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in Plantation, PAP Corps and the Florence Fier Memorial Scholarship.
Not My Daughter…find a cure now! is known for its ability to bring together generations for a common purpose and this year was no different. Members of the committee, along with teen volunteers, reached out to past donors and family and friends near and far to raise money for the cause.
Live entertainment included cooking demonstrations, a dance performance and a tour of the Not My Daughter Patient Support Services Center.
Denyse Hostig, the group’s founder and chairwoman, said the event was a huge success. “The community, past donors and past guests really showed up and were happy to donate,” she said.
