The Pap Corps Champions for Cancer Research recently presented “Art in the Park — A Gallery of Hope” at Broken Sound Country Club. Hundreds of members and sponsors gathered for this signature event which celebrated creativity while supporting groundbreaking research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The event raised over $120,000 in net proceeds.
WPTV’s Michael Williams hosted the luncheon, which featured an exhibition of inspiring artwork. From the heartfelt creations by Pap Corps members and local children from Unity School to striking pieces by renowned artists including Jason Perez and Dani Papa, each work resonated with personal messages of hope.
“We were deeply moved by the outpouring of creativity,” said CEO Sally Berenzweig. “Each piece reflected personal inspiration, making this a truly remarkable event for cancer research.”
The country club’s outdoor space was transformed into a gallery, featuring live violin music and an opportunity for guests to take home the works on display. At the heart of the event was “Strokes for Hope,” a large blank canvas that transformed as every attendee contributed a stroke of color. The masterpiece was completed by renowned artist Salvatore Principe, who added his signature heart to honor The Pap Corps.
“‘Strokes for Hope’ was more than just a painting,” explained Chair Susan Dinter. “It embodies the collaborative spirit that drives The Pap Corps. It’s a vibrant symbol of our shared commitment to Sylvester, a testament to the unity that fuels groundbreaking cancer research.”
During lunch, Neil Saffer’s energetic live auction ignited a bidding frenzy for coveted items, ending with the emotional final bid for “Strokes for Hope.” Susan & Ed Dinter had the winning bid for this piece, which will find its permanent home at the new Kenneth Griffin Cancer Research Building at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
