Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and the Palm Beach Pops team up for the “Holiday Spectacular” on Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium on FAU’s Boca Raton campus.
The concert features singer, actress and Broadway star Katharine McPhee alongside conductor, pianist and vocalist Tony DeSare, and it will include holiday favorites, Broadway classics and selections from the Great American Songbook.
McPhee rose to national prominence as the runner-up on Season 5 of “American Idol” before launching a successful recording career. She later starred in the television series “Smash” and earned critical praise for her performances in Broadway’s “Waitress.”
DeSare, meanwhile, is known for seamlessly combining jazz, pop, Broadway and classical music. His piano and vocal stylings have led to appearances with leading symphony orchestras and performances around the country.
Select FAU faculty and student musicians will also perform alongside members of the Palm Beach Pops Orchestra. Proceeds will help support student scholarships for FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters.
