In Jacob’s Shoes holds its 16th annual Dinner & Auction on Oct. 22 at Boca West Country Club. The organization’s signature fundraiser, “Every Sole Counts,” begins at 5:30 p.m. and supports its mission to help local children in need.
The evening features cocktails, dinner, live and silent auctions, a “Ticket to Paradise” raffle and a performance by the band Bianca Rosarrio & The Smooth Operators. All of the proceeds benefit In Jacob’s Shoes, which provides shoes, socks, backpacks and school supplies to children facing financial hardship, displacement or family crises.
This year’s honorees are the Billisi family, recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award; Alfonso and Francisca Costa, recipients of the Community Leadership Award; and Jacob and Kandice Freedman, recipients of the Excellence in Service Award. The evening also includes the pinning of The Jacob’s Shoes of Hope Heroes.
Founded in 2009 in memory of Jacob S. Zweig, In Jacob’s Shoes has distributed more than 300,000 pairs of shoes, 160,000 pairs of socks and 14,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to children in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties. The organization supports more than 300 local charities, schools and social service agencies and maintains more than 150 shoe closets in schools and shelters throughout the three counties.
The Boca Raton Observer is the exclusive media sponsor of this event.
