The Pap Corps Champions for Cancer Research donated $3.9 million to Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the “Breakfast with the Doctor” held in May at Broken Sound Country Club in Boca Raton. The Pap Corps has over 20,000 volunteers in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties, raising funds to support cancer research at Sylvester, South Florida’s only NCI-designated cancer center.
“We are so proud of the incredible efforts of our champion fundraisers,” says Sally Berenzweig, CEO of The Pap Corps. “Thanks to the tireless dedication of our members and supporters, this generous donation will empower Sylvester’s world-renowned researchers to continue their pursuit of groundbreaking discoveries that will transform the lives of patients facing this devastating disease.”
With 400 members in attendance, the event featured speeches by Dr. Stephen Nimer, director of Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and hematologist Dr. Craig Moskowitz.
“The Pap Corps’ remarkable fundraising continues to have a profound impact on Sylvester’s ability to translate cutting-edge research into life-saving treatments for patients,” says Susan Dinter, chair. “Dr. Moskowitz remarked that he often references The Pap Corps when he speaks with other cancer centers, none of which have a similar dedicated support organization. Our Pap Corps members know they are part of something very special, and we are so proud of that.”
The Pap Corps’ ongoing support has been instrumental in Sylvester’s commitment to advancing cancer research, prevention and patient care. These donations contribute to the recruitment of top cancer researchers, development of innovative therapies and clinical trials.
