American Heritage Schools’ Palm Beach campus has landed among Florida’s top-performing schools for National Merit recognition, with 30 seniors from the Class of 2027 named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
The recognition places the Delray Beach campus as the No. 1 school in Palm Beach County and No. 2 in Florida for the number of Scholarship Program semifinalists. Across both American Heritage campuses in Palm Beach and Broward counties, 95 seniors earned the distinction.
An additional 64 students were recognized as Commended Students, bringing the total number of nationally recognized seniors to 159.
More than 1.2 million juniors nationwide entered the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT/NMSQT, with fewer than 1% of U.S. high school seniors ultimately named semifinalists. According to the school, students from the Palm Beach and Broward campuses account for nearly 10% of all National Merit semifinalists in Florida.
This marks the 17th consecutive year that American Heritage Schools have had the highest number of National Merit Semifinalists in Florida. The Broward campus was also recognized as the top school in Florida for National Merit Scholar Semifinalists and ranked No. 2 among private schools nationally.
“Earning National Merit recognition is never an accident. It is the direct result of years of consistency, discipline and hard work,” Dr. Doug Laurie, president and co-owner of American Heritage Schools, said in a release. “Having over 25% of our senior class achieve this honor across both campuses is an incredible milestone. We are exceptionally proud of these students and excited to see the impact they will make at the nation’s top universities.”
The school also reported a 94% combined pass rate on Advanced Placement exams, with students earning scores of 3 or higher, compared with 69% statewide and 73% globally.
