Boca Ballet Theatre Presents ‘Coppélia’ With New York City Ballet Guest Stars
Boca Ballet Theatre has announced that New York City Ballet (NYCB) guest artists Megan Fairchild and Joseph Gordon will join its talented cast for the highly anticipated production of “Coppélia” on April 5-6.
A beloved classic, this charming ballet tells the story of a life-size dancing doll who captures the heart of a young villager named Franz. “When Franz sets aside his beloved Swanhilda to pursue Coppélia, Swanhilda shows him his folly by dressing as the doll and pretending to make it come to life,” the organization said in a press release. In the end, Swanhilda rescues Franz from the hands of the eccentric inventor Dr. Coppélius, leading to a joyous wedding celebration.
Bringing their world-class talent to Boca Raton, Fairchild and Gordon are no strangers to the spotlight. Fairchild, who began dancing at age 4, joined NYCB in 2001 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a soloist in 2004 and a principal dancer in 2005. Likewise, Gordon, who started ballet at age 5, joined the company in 2011, earned the rank of soloist in 2017 and achieved the rank of principal dancer in 2018.
With Fairchild and Gordon headlining Boca Ballet Theatre’s exceptional cast, “Coppélia” promises to be a must-see event for ballet lovers of all ages.
