Clarence E. Anthony To Deliver Commencement Address At FAU Spring Graduation
Clarence E. Anthony, CEO and executive director of the National League of Cities (NLC), will return to his alma mater, Florida Atlantic University (FAU), on May 2 to deliver the commencement address for the Spring 2025 graduating class.
A proud FAU alumnus, Anthony will share his inspiring journey — from working in the celery fields of rural Florida to becoming a prominent national voice in Washington, D.C. His message will center on perseverance, purpose and pride in one’s roots.
Born and raised in Belle Glade, Florida, Anthony began his public service career as mayor of South Bay, serving for 24 years. Since then, he has become a nationally respected leader in municipal advocacy. As CEO of NLC — the oldest and largest organization representing cities, town and village leaders — Anthony is dedicated to shaping federal policy, strengthening local leadership and driving innovative change to improve communities across the country.
FAU commencement ceremonies will be held at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on May 2 at the university’s Student Union, located at 1995 Dade Ave. in Boca Raton.
The event will also be livestreamed at fau.edu/webcast/
