JP’s Jam will return to Delray Beach on Sept. 25, bringing together music, poetry and memories of chef, artist and restaurateur John Paul Kline.
The annual open-mic fundraiser at The Hub at Space of Mind honors Kline, founder of the former restaurant and music venue 3rd & 3rd, which became a gathering place for local artists, musicians and residents. Proceeds will benefit the JP Kline Culinary Arts Scholarship Fund, which helps aspiring chefs and creative students in the community. The evening will feature live entertainment organized by SoulStreamz Open Mic, including music, poetry and audience participation activities.
“JP was a close friend,” Ali Kaufman, founder of Space of Mind and Community Classroom Project, said in a press release. “His spirit and mission live on through his scholarship fund, the friends and family who miss him dearly and the students who have benefited. We are honored to support this cause and keep his memory alive by raising a new generation of culinary artists — and giving all creatives a place to thrive.”
Community Classroom Project, a nonprofit focused on experiential learning, educational resources and entrepreneurship, administers the scholarship fund. Its Community Classroom Kitchen program provides cooking education and workforce training for the restaurant industry. Community Classroom Kitchen will prepare light bites for the event.
