Judy Levis Krug Boca Raton Jewish Film Festival Returns For Ninth Year
The Adolph & Rose Levis JCC (Levis JCC) has announced the return of the Judy Levis Krug Boca Raton Jewish Film Festival (JLKBRJFF), which will take place from Feb. 8-22 at Movies of Delray. This two-week event will feature more than 30 Israeli and Jewish-themed feature films, shorts, documentaries and comedies from around the globe.
Now in its ninth year, Boca Raton’s first Jewish film festival offers thought-provoking stories and the unique opportunity to engage with filmmakers, producers, actors and directors through screenings and special events.
JLKBRJFF, which attracts more than 3,000 film enthusiasts annually, presents a compelling lineup that captures the richness and diversity of Jewish culture and universal human experiences. From poignant dramas like “Bliss,” which explores the complexities of marriage, to powerful documentaries like “Elie Wiesel: Soul on Fire,” which provides a biographical glimpse into one of the most revered voices of the Holocaust, the showcase offers a profound exploration of resilience, identity and history.
“I am so proud of our festival, which is a respected space for cultural enrichment and really excels at bringing our community together through the universal language of film,” says Evan Foster, manager of JLKBRJFF. “By presenting a variety of films that offer diverse perspectives, we are able to spark conversations that enrich our collective understanding of each other and the world around us.”
JLKBRJFF also delves into themes of music and personal legacies with “Janis Ian: Breaking Silence,” a chronicle of the turbulent yet inspiring life of singer-songwriter Janis Ian, best known for her Grammy-winning hit “At Seventeen” and “Beethoven’s Nine,” which intertwines the history behind Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with contemporary global events. For those seeking lighter fare, there’s “31 Candles,” a quirky and heartfelt story about late-life bar mitzvahs and personal rediscoveries.
Beyond entertainment, the festival aims to educate and inspire dialogue about significant historical events and personal stories, furthering its mission to foster a deeper understanding of Jewish life.
