Off Glades Theatre Company kicks off its 2026 season with a witty and self-aware musical about making a musical.
A one-act autobiographical musical, “[title of show],” written by Jeff Bowen and Hunter Bell, follows two struggling writers, Jeff and Hunter, and their two friends as they rush to complete a new musical for a festival deadline just weeks away. Once Jeff suggests they write about what to write about, “[title of show]” follows its own creation as the duo dreams about the show changing their lives.
“This show invites the audience into the chaos,” director Jodie Langel says. “It’s fast, funny and unexpectedly heartfelt, an honest look at why artists create, how collaboration works and what happens when you decide to put your messy, unfinished ideas on stage.”
Langel, a social media sensation with more than 1 billion views for her viral “Raise Your Ya Ya Ya” video, has assembled a standout cast featuring Brandon Kraut as Jeff, Steven Guez as Hunter, Melanie Perkins as Heidi and Nicole Roach as Susan. Music director Darko Varga will also appear on stage as Larry.
“[title of show]” runs Feb. 13 through March 1 at the Willow Theatre in Sugar Sand Park.
