Speak Up For Kids Of Palm Beach County Hosts 8th Annual StoryBook Village Event
Step into a world of magic and adventure on March 9 at Mounts Botanical Garden for Speak Up for Kids of Palm Beach County’s 8th Annual StoryBook Village, themed “Be the Hero of the Story.”
Nestled among vibrant blooms and more than 2,000 species of tropical and subtropical plants, the garden will be transformed into a whimsical wonderland by Christopher Warner, a former foster child and designer. With approximately 30 StoryBook Booths, children can enjoy exciting activities led by foster agencies, child service organizations, educational groups and libraries — transporting them to a land of endless possibilities.
Coleen LaCosta, executive director of Speak Up for Kids, emphasizes the event’s profound impact: “The children we serve have faced challenges that would test the mightiest heroes. When a child victim of abuse can escape their burdens and feel the joy of childhood and strength of their own resilience — even for a single day — it ignites courage and sparks of hope. We are eternally grateful that Mounts Botanical Gardens, a place of such natural beauty, allows a day to dream, creating a haven of hope for these young heroes.”
Named in honor of Ellen Kranzler, a devoted Speak Up for Kids volunteer and advocate for foster children, StoryBook Village is a celebration of imagination, resilience and hope. Adding an extra sprinkle of magic, more than 2,000 books — each a treasure waiting to be discovered — will be available for adoption.
