The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum Presents ‘1925!’ — A Centennial Exhibit
As the City of Boca Raton celebrates its 100th anniversary, the Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum — home of the Boca Raton Historical Society (BRHS) — has unveiled a new exhibit titled “1925!” that transports visitors to the year the city was officially incorporated.
Running through Dec. 20, the immersive exhibit highlights the culture, fashion and innovations that defined this transformative era in Florida and American history.
“The year 1925 was pivotal for Boca Raton, setting the stage for the city’s remarkable growth over the last century,” says Mary Csar, executive director of BRHS. “This exhibit offers a fascinating glimpse into what life was like at the time, showcasing how history, fashion and innovation converged to shape our community.”
From free-spirited flappers and the Jazz Age’s exuberant nightlife to the Florida land boom that first put Boca Raton on the map, “1925!” dives into the pop culture, trends and everyday experiences that characterized the Roaring ‘20s.
Visitors will encounter historic photographs and artifacts that reflect the spirit of the time — from beaded dresses and boater hats to elegant interior design, early automobiles and modern conveniences like electricity and indoor plumbing. The exhibit also explores the rise of sports such as baseball and golf, the real estate frenzy that drew dreamers to South Florida and the flapper lifestyle that challenged societal norms for women.
