The World Pickleball Open is set to return to Patch Reef Park March 14–15, bringing two days of match play, community spirit and one of the area’s most anticipated gatherings for amateur athletes. Presented by Hospital for Special Surgery Florida, organizers expect strong participation across men’s, women’s and mixed doubles divisions, continuing a tradition that has drawn more than 1,300 players over the past three years.
This year’s event, hosted by Players International Management, features a round-robin format with a minimum of three matches for every competitor. Divisions span ages 19 and older, 40 and older and 60 and older. Saturday will feature men’s and women’s doubles, while mixed doubles will take place Sunday. Spectators are welcome to attend free of charge.
The event also includes a Holiday Toy Drive, and attendees are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to the tournament desk. Donations will benefit local children’s hospitals.
Tournament organizers note that format adjustments may be made depending on factors like weather, and divisions may be combined when necessary. Matches will be played to either 11 or 15 points, with medals awarded based on total wins.
Ties will be determined by head-to-head results, followed by point differential. Divisions with eight or more teams will be separated into pools with a playoff round. A certified referee will be on-site to answer rule questions, though the event is non-sanctioned. Concessions will be available for purchase.
