Multi-starred Michelin Chef Thomas Keller wants to get the word out about the old-school feel and nostalgic yet modern American cuisine at his new South Florida restaurant, The Surf Club Restaurant in Surfside.
"Honoring the location's history of good times and grand parties, the menu interprets classic Continental cuisine for a modern audience," notes the eatery's website. "Like the swinging patrons of '50s and '60s hotspots, this restaurant celebrates."
Chef Keller has received countless accolades over the years, including the Culinary Institute of America's Chef of the Year Award and the James Beard Foundation's Outstanding Chef and Outstanding Restaurateur awards.
He created a special menu for his first Florida venture, featuring "cuisine presented in a carefully choreographed fashion using the freshest ingredients," according to the restaurant's website. That translates to dishes like Dover Sole Meunière, Filet Mignon and Eggplant Parmesan. Traditional post-Prohibition style cocktails and an extensive selection of wine round out the dining experience.
