People like living close to the beach.
Just looking at the water measurably lowers stress levels, according to Stacker, which transforms research into stories. When Stacker got hold of data from WalletHub, they came up with a list of the 50 best American beach towns to live in. Ratings compared factors: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education, health and quality of life.
Florida dominated with 19 towns on the list — and Boca Raton, with a composite score of 61, came in third in the nation. Topping the rankings is Naples, with a composite score of 62.5.
“Boca Raton sits between West Palm Beach and Miami on Florida’s east coast,” the Stacker story said. “For a day away from the beach, residents can shop at Mizner Park or take in some culture at the Boca Raton Museum of Art.”
Other Florida beach towns on the list are Sarasota (6), Vero Beach (10), Destin (12), Fernandina Beach (15), Venice (17), Jupiter (21), Satellite Beach (24), Atlantic Beach (29), Key Biscayne (30), Stuart (31), St. Augustine (34), Key West (36), Jacksonville Beach (38), North Palm Beach (43), Coral Gables (44), Clearwater (48) and Pensacola (50).
The municipalities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000 and had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor.
