If you’re a 70s TV fan of “The Love Boat” or “Good Times” check out “Willie & Esther” at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center.
The play stars Ted Lange, aka Isaac the loveable bartender aboard the “Love Boat,” and Bern Nadette Stanis who portrayed Thelma on “Good Times.”
The play focuses on a couple who dream of robbing a bank to overcome their troubles. Willie is a frustrated scam artist and warehouse worker. Esther works at a beauty parlor. Performances are March 26 at 7 p.m. and March 27 at 3 p.m.
The theater is also offering two special programs: On March 24 there will be a screening of an episode of “The Love Boat,” followed by an interview and Q&A with Lange. On March 25 there will be a screening of “Good Times,” followed by an interview and Q&A with Stanis. Both events are from 7 to 9 p.m. and are free.
If you have always wanted to be a writer, or you have already scripted a play, you won’t want to miss Writing the Play – Master Class with Ted Lange on March 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. During this class Lange will offer step-by-step guidance on the basics of writing including character, conflict, structure, setting, dialogue and formatting.
