Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Tia and Tamera Mowry and James and Oliver Phelps (aka Fred and George Weasley) are some of the most famous twins in pop culture. But they’re far from alone. In fact, there’s a full weekend set aside in August for twins (and multiples) from around the world.
Located, where else, but in Twinsburg, Ohio, the 50th annual Twins Days Festival will take place Aug. 1 to 3.
The festival has featured a variety of playful themes each year since 1994. Last year’s was “Twindy 500,” and the year before it was “Shiver Me Twinbers.” This year is no different. For “Cheers To 50 Years,” attendees are encouraged to “relive the magic of past festivals” by dressing up as their favorite theme from years past.
“Whether you loved the groovy vibes of the ‘60s and ‘70s, the whimsical flair of fairy tales, the vibrant colors of the carnival or the action of superheroes, we want to see your creativity shine!” the event website reads.
The weekend is packed with activities, from the lively Double Take Parade to a spirited 5K run, cornhole and volleyball tournaments and a golf outing. There’s also plenty of food, games like Twingo (their version of Bingo) and live entertainment to keep the celebration going.
It’s not all just fun and games, though. Twins Days Festival provides fundraising opportunities for local community groups and gives back by underwriting several scholarships to twins and residents of the town.
