It’s been called the Best Show on H20. Now after a one-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade returns this year to celebrate 50 years.
Internationally renowned 3-D Pop Artist Charles Fazzino was selected as the official artist for this year’s poster. It’s not his first time. Fazzino designed the Winterfest’s posters in 2006, 2010 and 2016. While he is well known for his extravagant and vivid 3-D New York City scenes, Fort Lauderdale has a special place in his heart.
“Winterfest has been one of my favorite events for decades,” says Fazzino. “I used to spend my winters in Florida at all the art festivals and watched Winterfest as it was just getting started. I am honored to once again be painting the official poster for the 50th anniversary, and I hope that my work accurately captures the spectacle and the celebration.”
Winterfest is the premier holiday boat parade. Small private boats to mega yachts are adorned with lights and decorations and you never know what celebrity might show up onboard.
This year’s Grand Marshal is Mario Lopez. Past Grand Marshals include Pitbull, Nick Cannon, Flo Rida and Huey Lewis.
The festivities start Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Stranahan House. The parade moves east along Fort Lauderdale’s New River to the Intracoastal Waterway and makes its way north to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach.
