We may not have a picture-perfect, snow-covered setting or sip hot cocoa after a day of sledding in our South Florida December, but that’s all right. With our gorgeous beaches and enviable weather, we’ve perfected our own version of a winter wonderland.
In any case, whether you’re making snow angels in freshly fallen snow or tracing them in the sand, the holidays are a time to cherish what matters most: family. Albert Einstein said it best when he advised, “Rejoice with your family in the beautiful land of life.” This December, our Holiday Issue gives us the perfect opportunity to do just that.
For our cover, we have the pleasure of showcasing the extraordinarily talented Trisha Yearwood. Our profile, “Holiday Harmony” (page 70), shares her latest ventures — including a new Christmas album and a South Florida concert — reminding us why her voice continues to inspire warmth, generosity and grace year after year.
We may not have snowflakes or sleigh rides, but as every local knows, the holidays here have their own kind of magic. Our piece, “Season’s Greetings, South Florida–Style” (page 76), highlights the unique, fun and quintessential traditions that make celebrating here so delightfully different (coquito, anyone?).
It wouldn’t be December without an extra helping of holiday music, seemingly on an endless loop wherever we go. Whether a certain tune brings you back to the warm, fuzzy moments of your childhood or leaves you wanting to hit the mute button, our story, “Soundtrack Of December” (page 88), explains why these melodies hold such power — connecting us through nostalgia, joy and shared emotion.
During this time of year, inspiration takes many forms, from the music we hear to the stories that touch our hearts. Florida-resident, Kristin Harmel, is known for her bestselling novels about love, loss and the strength of the human spirit. “Changing The World” (page 82), details her extraordinary career as a writer, her recent struggle with breast cancer and how embracing hope and connection made this holiday season especially meaningful to her. I’ve always meant to pick up one of her novels, and after learning more about her journey, I can’t wait to start.
Since this is the season of giving, we’ve got you more than covered with our gift guide, “Center Stage” (page 94), an ode to the incomparable Taylor Swift and her creative evolution. Our extensive guide takes on the same playful spirit, sharing our own themed eras of gifting. With options including the Jet-Set Era, Bookish Era and Healing Era, you’ll discover gifts that speak to every personality — including your own.
As we say goodbye to 2025 and welcome a new year, I want to take a moment to thank you, our loyal readers and valued partners, for always supporting us. You are the reason we continue to grow, create and celebrate this remarkable community. From our family to yours, we wish you the happiest of holidays — however you celebrate — and may 2026 be filled with love, laughter, good health and endless possibilities.
In gratitude,
Linda L. Behmoiras
