A hub of art, music and exceptional dining, Chicago has a way of revealing something new with every stay. As summer gives way to fall, the city enters one of its most inviting seasons, with crisp days perfect for exploring its celebrated architecture and the skyline rising above the shores of Lake Michigan — and few hotels are better positioned to help you experience it all than Four Seasons Hotel Chicago. Located in the elegant Gold Coast neighborhood, it’s just steps from the Magnificent Mile, an iconic stretch of luxury boutiques, flagship stores and restaurants.
In 2020, the hotel underwent an extensive renovation, led by the renowned firm Rottet Studio, emerging with an entirely new look inspired by Chicago’s skyline, lush parks and the lake. All 347 rooms and suites were refreshed with warm woods, calming hues and contemporary furnishings, creating spaces that feel more like private residences than hotel accommodations. Many of them highlight the property’s greatest asset: sweeping views of the cityscape and the lake. Among the higher-end offerings are the Author Suite, a 46th-floor space with a collection of books and records.

Set on the seventh floor, Adorn Restaurant & Bar offers a softly candlelit setting with a menu from executive chef Brent Balika (who cut his teeth working for legendary Chicago chef Charlie Trotter) that celebrates classic American fare with inventive twists. Examples include House Pretzels with pimento cheese, cultured butter and sea salt and heartier favorites like the Double Wagyu Cheeseburger and the Duck Inn Dog, made with a blend of pork, beef and duck and served Chicago-style. The meal finishes on a high note, with desserts such as the Cheddar-Kissed Apple Tart (a clever balance of sweet and savory) and the Banana Chocolate Bread Pudding with oat-milk ice cream and caramelized sesame. Anyone who has ever stayed at a Four Seasons knows that brunch is not to be missed, and Adorn lives up to expectations with creations such as a “Shakshuka” Ranchero (combining Mediterranean and Mexican flavors), a Butter-Poached Red Crab Omelette and the Banana French Toast, topped with dulce de leche, toasted coconut, vanilla bean whipped cream and maple syrup.

The eighth floor is devoted entirely to wellness. At its center is a heated 44-foot infinity pool, among the largest in Chicago. Swim laps or simply relax as natural light pours in and the city bustles far below.
Throughout the spa, butterfly motifs — a nod to renewal and transformation — add a whimsical touch to the serene surroundings.
Among the signature treatments is The Elysian Dreams Ritual, which begins with a full-body exfoliation and continues with a pink clay wrap designed to soften and replenish the skin. The Mariposa Massage, meanwhile, blends dry brushing, cooling cryotherapy stones and warm herbal poultices into an experience designed to ease tension from head to toe.

Chicago’s architecture is among the city’s greatest attractions, and Four Seasons Hotel Chicago offers a particularly elegant way to experience it. Guests can book a private two-hour excursion aboard the hotel’s 55-foot yacht, where an architectural expert brings the city’s iconic buildings to life while cruising along the Chicago River.
Whether you’re up early to watch the sunrise over Lake Michigan or sipping cocktails as the city lights flicker to life, Four Seasons Hotel Chicago offers a front-row seat to one of America’s great cities, all while delivering impeccable service, exceptional dining and a world-class spa.
