As we leave summer behind — often filled with vacation Memories and joyous moments — I am reminded of what Katharine Graham, the first American female Fortune 500 CEO, said: “To love what you do and feel that it matters, how could anything be more fun?”
It’s a quote that resonates strongly with me, as I feel fortunate to love my job, and going to work every day leaves me feeling happy and grateful. This month’s Business + Wealth Issue is packed with inspiring stories that blend passion, purpose and success, beginning with our sensational cover piece, “Vogue Vanguard” (page 60). Featuring a true icon — the extraordinary Beverly Johnson — we delve into her remarkable impact on both fashion and business and learn how the visionary trailblazer is paying it forward today.
We also tackle the fascinating topic of leadership presence. Our piece “Top Dog” (page 66) explores the traits needed to be a true leader and how to acquire and nurture them to reach your potential and find success in the professional world.
A fearless female entrepreneur whom I’ve always admired (beyond her incredible line of clothing) is Ramy Brook Sharp. In “Fashion Forward” (page 72), you’ll see how she not only inspired millions of women to feel confident and beautiful but has done so by tapping into the transformative power of individuality.
I believe that no matter how much of a pro you become, there is always room for improvement. In “Level Up” (page 88) we take a look at key strategies anyone — whether you work in the mailroom or are the company CEO — can acquire to develop better work habits.
As we enter the final quarter of The Boca Raton Observer’s milestone 20th anniversary celebration, I am overwhelmed with gratitude and joy for what the magazine has meant to our community and all the wonderful people and organizations that have supported and embraced it. The final installment of our 2024 special anniversary feature, “Boca’s Impressive Boom” (page 78), provides insight into our one-of-a-kind beloved city and the incredible growth it continues to experience. I’m so proud to call Boca Raton my home and honored to have The Boca Raton Observer grow along with it.
Lastly, I am thrilled to announce that The Boca Raton Observer won 15 awards at the prestigious Florida Magazine Association Awards. Accolades include the coveted Charlie Award for Best Writing: Feature Headlines and Best Design: Feature along with Silver for Best Overall Magazine, Best Overall Design, Best Overall Magazine Website and Best Advertorial Story or Section.
