For October 11--National Coming Out Day, ArtServe will screen (at ArtServe) a 20-minute black and white documentary film entitled "Open Dialogues: Stories from the LGBTQ Community" that will be followed by a panel discussion.
Produced by the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, the film captures the diverse coming-out narratives of seven Broward residents who took part in on-camera interviews. Directed by Freddy Rodriguez and produced by the Art and Culture Center/Hollywood, "Open Dialogues" explores how the LGBTQ community is marginalized among families, schools, churches and public spaces – and how individuals interviewed for the film learned to empower themselves in these spaces.
