Jason John Painting 41
Join our Master Artist Lecture Series with artist and professor Jason John, who will introduce his unique body of portrait paintings and share his approach to portraiture in a live painting demonstration.
Jason is currently a Professor at the University of North Florida and has participated in over 100 exhibitions worldwide in the last decade. He received a BFA in painting from Kutztown University and an MFA in painting and drawing from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His work as a figurative painter is driven by a fascination with the instability of identity, which is not fixed but continually shaped through context, memory, and perception. Each figure he paints is suspended in a shifting environment composed of cloud-like forms, fragmented landscapes, still life remnants, and echoes of Old Master paintings. These elements converge to construct a psychological space that resists cohesion, inviting unease and ambiguity rather than resolution. This lecture is part of the Master Artist Workshop series. Students registering for only the lecture will not be able to attend the workshop.
