to
Cypress Bay High School 18600 Vista Park Boulevard , Weston, Florida 33332
United Way of Broward County’s Commission on Behavioral Health & Drug Prevention and The Weston Alliance for Youth (WAY) will present a “Teen Talk” Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.
· The event will feature an informative and interactive student-led panel discussion for parents and teens focusing on decisions that youth in our community are currently making around mental health and substance use.
· The panel will focus on data from the 2021 Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey, FYSAS, which reported that most youth in our community are making healthy choices. However, 44% of Florida students reported that their emotional health (i.e., level of stress, anxiety, and depression) was worse during the pandemic; 25% reported it was better and 31% reported it was about the same. Students reporting negative impacts because of the pandemic also reported higher rates of substance use.
· Parents and teens are encouraged to become involved in the discussion.
· This FREE event is open to the public, and will offer resources, refreshments, community service hours and meaningful conversation!
· Event sponsors include United Way of Broward County’s Commission on Behavioral Health & Drug Prevention, Broward Behavioral Health Coalition (BBHC), Florida Department of Children and Families, The Weston Alliance for Youth and Broward County Public Schools.
