Shiso fuses wood-fired barbecue with Caribbean influences and Japanese cooking techniques.
Whether you’re in the mood for sushi or something hot from the kitchen, the menu offers a wide selection.
Award-winning Chef Raheem Sealey and David Fuentes partnered with Forward Hospitality Group to bring their concept to Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood. Sealey, who grew up in St. Croix, became known for the Korean fried chicken he perfected while helming the kitchen at the award-winning Kyu Miami — where he also met Fuentes.
“Growing up on the island, I always aspired to open my own restaurant with my unique vision and approach to flavor. That’s what I’m bringing to Shiso,” says Sealey.
Shiso’s menu features a Cornish hen, with one half smoked and the other half fried, served with white barbecue sauce. Other barbecue-inspired dishes include the Smoked Brisket Croquette, Smoked Sticky Ribs and the BBQ Toro.
Another signature dish is Oxtail Gunkan, a smoked barbecued oxtail layered with pickle relish and rice.
Chilean Sea Bass, King Crab and Crispy Octopus are among the featured seafood items. And, of course, there are traditional Japanese rolls and Nigiri.
The 11,000-square-foot space boasts an impressive indoor and outdoor open-kitchen dining room, a 15-seat chef’s counter and rooftop lounge.
Shiso is located at 239 N.W. 28th St. in Miami. For more information, visit shisomiami.com.
