The couple behind Michelin-starred Ikaro in La Rioja, Spain, debuted their first U.S. restaurant in downtown Miami.
Carolina Sanchez and Iñaki Murua opened Momento by Ikaro, an al fresco eatery that blends the couple’s culinary origins of Spain and Ecuador.
“With Momento, we aspire to craft a relaxing space where guests can disconnect with friends while indulging in unforgettable experiences that leave a lasting impression,” says Sanchez, the executive chef.
The 25-dish menu includes mouthwatering starters such as the Green Plantain Empanada, filled with crab spiced with beer, fresh herbs and cumin and accompanied by a mild tamarillo sauce. Or try the Amazonian Tiradito, cured and smoked hamachi with Ikaro’s signature smokey neapia (a traditional Amazonian condiment made from cassava starch and chilies).
The fish and seafood menu offers everything from Grilled Prawns accompanied by coconut sauce, tostones and jasmine rice to Wood-Fired Branzino.
For the meat-lover, there’s Glazed, Boneless Short Ribs slow-cooked in a wood-fired oven served with lemon and mint quinoa salad; Veal Sweetbreads and Veal Cachopo, veal filled with Iberian ham and cheese and served with a poached egg, pesto, truffle cream and sweet plantain terrine.
The drinks menu offers classic and specialty cocktails, mocktails, wine by the bottle or glass and beer.
End the evening with a sweet treat. There’s Carmelized Spanish Torrija, brioche soaked in vanilla and orange-infused milk served with vanilla ice cream, or Lotus Cheesecake.
Momento by Ikaro is located at 1306 N. Miami Ave., in Miami.
