In the heart of the South of Fifth neighborhood, Laurel is bringing a refined yet welcoming Mediterranean spirit to one of Miami Beach’s most storied Art Deco landmarks.
Located within the reimagined Balfour Miami Beach boutique hotel, Laurel draws on the diverse cuisines of the Eastern Mediterranean. Executive chef Camila Olarte leads the evolving, mezze-style experience with a global sensibility.
Olarte, who grew up in Colombia and trained at Michelin-starred destinations including The French Laundry and The Surf Club Restaurant, brings a personal touch to the menu, drawing from her upbringing in a household where “the dining table was the heart of the home.”
The terrace
Diners should start with the Baked Jou Jou Pita Bread and an array of vibrant dips, from smoky Moutabel, charred eggplant, pomegranate and parsley to Walnut Muhammarah, featuring toasted walnuts, herbs and pomegranate.
Among the shareable items are Spicy Cigars (crispy pastries filled with spiced ground lamb, labneh and feta cheese) and the Chicken Platter — grilled chicken kebab, eggplant moutabel, orzo rice and cucumber salad. Mediterranean‑inspired desserts, including a towering baklava, offer a sweet finale.
The terrace and courtyard extend the experience outdoors, reflecting what the restaurant describes as a belief that “food and hospitality are meant to bring people together.”
Laurel is located at 350 Ocean Dr. in Miami Beach. For more information, visit laurelmiami.com.
