Foodies and comic book enthusiasts will love one of Wynwood’s newest restaurants. Niño Gordo’s menu blends the vibrant flavors of Miami with its signature Asian influences, served in a vibrant setting.
Created by Germán Sitz and Pedro Peña, Niño Gordo makes its first international appearance — its second location, after debuting in Buenos Aires in 2017.
“The Miami menu is not an exact replica of Buenos Aires,” says Sitz. “The idea is to work with local products and trends, taking advantage of the fresh ingredients we can access here, like Key West prawns, which are completely different from those in Buenos Aires.”
Signature items include the Katsu-Sando with shokupan bread, beef, tonkatsu and Japanese mayo, alongside new creations such as Hamachi with bell pepper, enoki, cucumber and nori; Duck (Peking-Style) with cucumber, daikon, carrot, bok choy and hoisin; and Dumplings with squid, veal, curry, coconut yogurt, edamame and wasabi.
The cocktail menu was created to pair with the Asian-inspired cuisine and features trademark drinks like a Red Bean Old Fashioned, Cherry Blossom Negroni with infused Fords Gin and Papaya Salad Daiquiri made with a cordial based on the namesake dish.
Hidden behind a vintage cigarette machine is Dekotora, an intimate, Japanese-inspired sushi and cocktail bar with a menu that includes crudos, maki, nigiri and a special omakase (chef-selected) experience.
Niño Gordo is located at 112 N.W. 28th St. in Miami. For more information, visit niniogordo.us.
