Downtown Fort Lauderdale’s Riverwalk is now home to a new Greek restaurant. Mykonos was founded by Breakwater Hospitality Group, the operators behind The Wharf Fort Lauderdale, which is right next door.
The menu offers a raw bar featuring Hamachi Crudo with blood orange vinegar, isot pepper and micro mint; and Truffle Tuna Tartare with lemon crème fraîche, truffle and crispy lavash bread.
Sharing is a wonderful way to sample the cuisine, and luckily, there are plenty of small plates to choose from. Crispy Zucchini; Dolmades (aka rice stuffed grape leaves); Grilled Spanish Octopus, flavored with romesco sauce, grilled lemon and pickled parsley; and Hummus are among the starters.
On the main menu, saffron cream and sautéed mushrooms bring the flavor of Chilean Sea Bass — a chef recommendation — to life. The Chicken Shish Kebab in a garlic yogurt sauce comes with sumac onion salad and grilled lavash bread on the side. For meat lovers, there’s the Grilled Ribeye seasoned with roasted garlic and rosemary garlic butter.
Mykonos serves wine by the glass and by the bottle, beer and specialty cocktails with names such as Ophelia, Lady D and The Grape Escape.
Top off the meal with the chef-recommended Pistachio Bougatsa, a crispy phyllo dough stuffed with pistachio cheese mousse.
Mykonos is located at 305 S. Andrews Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. For more information, visit mykonosfl.com.
