Now open in Coral Gables, Mottai, the first U.S. project from Brazil’s Attivo Group, presents Japanese cooking in a setting that blends clean design with a calm, modern atmosphere.
“When we expand into a new market, the goal is always to create something that feels authentic to both our values and the city itself,” Attivo Group founder Marcelo Simões Abrão said in a statement. “Miami’s international energy makes it a natural place for this next chapter.”
The menu, developed by chef Brian Nasajon, executive chef Moritz Esser and executive sushi chef Hiroshi Shintaku, focuses on clear flavors and precise execution.
Cold small plates include Hamachi with white soy ponzu, jalapeño, marinated kyuri and citrus oroshi (grated daikon radish) and Hirame with spicy pomelo, lemongrass and gooseberry. Hot dishes range from Japanese Eggplant with miso mustard and tentsuyu (tempura dipping sauce) to Steamed Clams with sake butter, chive oil and furikake.
Sugi Katsu
Among the larger plates are Sugi Katsu (a crisp, panko-crusted cobia cutlet); Pork Belly with hatcho yakiniku (a rich, savory Japanese barbecue sauce), Bibb lettuce and shaved shallot; and Black Garlic Chicken with carrot puree and charred scallion. Diners can also select grilled items such as American Wagyu Rib-Eye, Prime Filet Mignon and U4 Prawns with garlic ginger butter, while the sushi counter features Kinmedai (golden-eye snapper), Hotate and Uni, along with Maki and Temaki offerings.
Desserts include Mango Chawanmushi and a molten Chocolate Fondanta.
