Diver Scallops
Head to Toro Latin Kitchen in Dania Beach which is officially back in business after a pandemic closure.
“We count ourselves lucky to reopen our doors,” noted Doug Hope, general manager of the Le Méridien Dania Beach, which houses the restaurant. “It was disheartening to go dark just as we were finding our stride. We are excited to welcome back fans and introduce ourselves to everyone who never had a chance to dine with us.”
Chef Richard Sandoval is at the helm, creating entrees that hopscotch the globe like Colombian “pan de queso”, ceviches, “chicharron de camarones” and Peruvian fried chicken.
Other options are chicken, lamb (including citrus-kissed New Zealand lamb chops) and beef from the restaurant’s wood-burning oven. There’s also a bison burger with Morita bacon jam, garlic crema, chipotle and cheddar cheese.
Seafood lovers will be delighted to discover Asian-inspired diver scallops with brown butter and butternut squash and achiote-marinated salmon with dashi braised bok choy and chef’s fish of the day, prepared zarandeado-style (split in half, head to tail before being grilled over coals) served with a shaved vegetable salad and corn tortillas.
Toro Latin Kitchen is located at the Le Méridien Dania Beach, 1825 Griffin Road, Dania Beach. For more information, call 954-686-1200 or visit torodaniabeach.com.
