The National Hotel in Miami Beach is known for its iconic Art Deco design. The historical oceanfront venue — now billed as an adults-only sanctuary — is also in the forefront of the culinary world.
The latest? Marea 1939, a Spanish restaurant helmed by Executive Chef Sergio Chamizo (the former owner/executive chef at Alma in Coconut Grove). The indoor/outdoor eatery has plenty of signature dishes to entice diners. Case in point: Honey-Spiced Duck Breast, Black Paella with Seared Scallops and Shrimp, Patatas Bravas, Cantabrian Anchovies & Boquerones and Spanish Octopus.
“I’m honored to partner with The National Hotel and present a new elevated dining concept,” Chamizo said in a press release. “Marea 1939 offers the perfect mix of local flavors along with influences from my Spanish heritage.”
Chamizo draws his inspiration from the coastal regions of Spain, where he was born. He grew up watching his mother and grandmother cook — and, sharing their passion, later enrolled in culinary school in Madrid. After graduating, he created culinary delights in Europe and Asia before moving to Miami.
National Hotel Miami Beach is located at 1677 Collins Ave., Miami Beach. For more information, call 305-532-2311 or visit nationalhotel.com.
