Miami’s City of Doral recently welcomed Altamura Trattoria, the newest culinary gem from chefs Massimo and Elisabetta Tundo. Known for their soulful Italian cooking, the duo returns to the spotlight following their acclaimed (now closed) restaurant, Dal Plin, bringing with them a menu steeped in tradition and family memories.
Altamura Trattoria is a tribute to the kitchens of their grandmothers, where recipes were passed down with love. Diners are greeted with Il Nostro Benvenuto, a complimentary bite of L’Oro di Pisa, a chickpea flatbread topped with artichokes, marjoram and ricotta mousse.
“At Altamura Trattoria, we bring the warmth of our childhood kitchens to life; kitchens where food was prepared with patience, respect for tradition and the love of generations before us,” says Chef Elisabetta Tundo.
The menu features regional Italian flavors. Highlights include: Bagna Cauda di Mare con Polenta di Nonna Carmelina (scampi carpaccio over grilled polenta in warm garlic sauce); Gnocchi Alla Veneta della Nonna Ivana (ricotta gnocchi with butter, cinnamon, gorgonzola and shaved pears); Tortellini Al Forno (handmade tortellini with prosciutto di Parma and fig glaze); and Spaghetti Chitarra al Pomodoro e Stracciatella (fresh pasta with San Marzano sauce and candied tomato).
Pizza lovers will adore the “Zza’ Zza’” section, featuring pies like the Parm-Giana and Montanara. During happy hour, guests enjoy bites such as the Panuozzino and Bella Venezia with their first drink.
With a wine list spotlighting Italy’s native grapes — including Marsala Vergine, a rich Sicilian dessert wine — Altamura Trattoria invites diners to slow down, savor and feel at home.
Altamura Trattoria is located at 7835 N.W. 107th Ave. in Doral. For more information, visit altamuratrattoria.com.
