Get ready to “Grip, Rip and Dip" into hot-from-the-oven bagels with over-the-top schmears thanks to PopUp Bagels’ new Delray location. This “Not Famous, but Known” bagel shop has a massive social media presence with nearly 220,000 followers on Instagram, creating a buzz among local users with its official Dec. 13 grand opening announcement.
What started as a backyard pickup for friends, PopUp Bagels — which officially launched in Westport, Conn. in 2021 — has grown to multiple pop-up and permanent locations in California, Connecticut, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, New York and North Carolina. The brand even won Best Bagel at the Brooklyn Bagelfest two years in a row.
The Salt and Plain bagels remain go-to favorites, while the Poppy, Sesame and Everything varieties are generously coated in what the shop describes as “a perfect proportion of seeds.”
A takeout-only shop, PopUp Bagels’ “Grip, Rip and Dip" method means its bagels are meant to be ripped apart, then dipped into a tub of schmear.
Along with the staple plain and scallion cream cheese and salted butter, PopUp Bagels offers a weekly Specialty Schmear cream cheese and butter.
Flavors range from sweet offerings like maple cinnamon, almond toffee and strawberry shortcake, to savory options such as truffle, garlic rosemary and caramelized onion. Seasonal offerings have also made appearances in their other locations, including Candy Corn Butter for Halloween, Good time for a Guiness for St. Patrick’s Day and Peppermint Fudge Cream Cheese for Christmas.
Smoked salmon and vegan cream cheese can be added to any order for an extra fee. While walk-ins are available, preorders online are recommended.
