South Florida’s dining scene reached a new milestone as the Michelin Guide released its first-ever statewide Florida selection, elevating two local restaurants into the coveted One Michelin Star category and reinforcing the region’s growing national culinary stature. The 2026 guide recognizes 200 restaurants across the state, placing South Florida’s chefs among the most compelling culinary voices in Florida.
Emelina in West Palm Beach and Mutra in Miami both earned One Michelin Star honors in their first appearance in the guide. The statewide expansion marks the first time Michelin inspectors evaluated restaurants from the Panhandle to the Keys, creating broader competition and added significance for South Florida’s wins.
At Emelina, chefs Osmel González and Camila Salazar were recognized for a refined and contemporary approach to Cuban cuisine that draws heavily from South Florida ingredients. The intimate, counter-style restaurant impressed inspectors with its thoughtful execution and global perspective layered onto traditional flavors.
Mutra, located in Miami, earned its star for Israeli chef Raz Shabtai’s deeply personal take on Middle Eastern cuisine. Named for his grandmother, the restaurant was praised for its rotating, hyperlocal menu and chef’s counter experience that blends heritage with seasonality.
"We are eager to share the first state-wide selection for the state of Florida," Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide, says. "Florida has something for everyone. So much so, that this year’s selection represents 42 different cuisine types."
