Classic burger at Elisabetta's
Memorial Day weekend is synonymous with the beginning of summer and backyard barbecues, which means many dads are dusting off their grill in anticipation of Monday’s cookout. While we’re sure no one does a burger quite like Pop, you might want to get a head start and treat yourself to a perfectly juicy hamburger at a restaurant today. After all, it’s National Burger Day, so you might as well!
CARROT EXPRESS
It turns out you can do your body good without compromising on flavor. This fast-casual spot has multiple locations in Miami — and just recently opened up in Boca Raton — proving this point. There’s a burger for every flavor profile (turkey, salmon and red quinoa) but it’s The Impossible Burger, a plant-based burger paired with mashed sweet plantain, arugula, red onions, tomato, alfalfa sprouts and mustard aioli, served on a toasted multigrain bun, that will have even the most die-hard carnivore craving a return.

KUSH
Owner Matt Kuscher has earned bragging rights in the burger realm. His creations have been deemed one of the “Top 100 Burgers in America” by the Food Network and his famous Frita Burger won the coveted “People’s Choice” Award in last weekend’s competitive Heineken Burger Bash at the South Beach Food & Wine Festival. The crowd-pleasing burger is a spin on the classic Frita Cubana or Cuban burger, a patty made with ground beef and chorizo and topped with shoestring potatoes on Cuban bread. Kush takes it up a notch by adding Swiss cheese, bacon and guava jelly, as well as generous amounts of the restaurant’s signature sauce.

THE TAURUS
Those keen on the South Florida burger scene know all about the legendary Proof Burger, a double-patty smash burger with a secret blend of meats that translates into a melt-in-your mouth experience. When celebrated chef Justin Flit had to shut down Proof restaurant in 2018, die-hard fans mourned the loss of this burger so intensely, that the burger resurrected and now reappears sporadically and in limited quantities as a pop-up at The Taurus. Burger fans know to drop everything and go when they receive notice that the burger, which also comes topped with caramelized onions, white cheddar aioli and melted cheddar cheese, is making its appearance and will be happy to learn it will be available through the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

TUCKER DUKE’S
This People’s Choice winner is stacked so high with goodness, it’s practically a feat of ingenuity to take a bite (pro tip: open wide!) The tower is made up of beef, cheddar and American cheese, an outrageous amount of onion rings, tomatoes and lettuce along with the restaurant’s addictive Tucker sauce. As if that is not enough to fast-track you to your happy place, the whole thing is bookended by a scrumptious onion roll.
