Miami New Drama (MiND), the nation’s largest bilingual professional theater company, is in the final stretch of its latest groundbreaking production, “Lincoln Road Hustle,” which concludes Feb. 16. Written by “Cocaine Cowboys” award-winning documentary filmmaker Billy Corben and acclaimed playwright Harley Elias, this captivating, immersive theater experience has been wowing audiences with its originality and bold storytelling.
Directed by MiND’s Founder and Artistic Director Michel Hausmann, “Lincoln Road Hustle” takes audiences on a thrilling journey through a high-stakes real estate casino deal poised to reshape Miami Beach, a daring billion-dollar art heist, a Michelin-ready chef on the edge of collapse and a whirlwind love affair that spirals into chaos.
What sets this production apart is its ability to transform the vibrant landscape of Lincoln Road into a live stage, with performances unfolding in restaurants, cafes, retail shops and public spaces. Groups of approximately 40 audience members navigate the bustling street, eavesdropping on live, real-time conversations and uncovering the interconnected lives of eclectic characters. As the audience moves from set to set, they’ll eventually converge at a single location for the grand finale.
“This production embodies the essence of Miami — its pulse, intrigue and relentless energy,” says Hausmann. “We are pushing the boundaries of theater by inviting the audience not just to observe but to experience this story in a way that feels intimate and exhilarating.”
Corben adds, “Miami is like Ellis Island meets Fyre Festival. It’s a hustle town, and we’ve always thrived from scheme to scheme. It makes for priceless theater (and comedy). This show is a celebration of that entrepreneurial spirit — the American Dream by any means necessary — and Miami New Drama’s commitment to innovative theater. MiND brings the art that Miami deserves and needs right now.”
