Thousands of lights and decorations will illuminate the night at Flamingo Gardens’ annual holiday event, Garden Of Lights.
The 60-acre botanical garden in Davie – which features more than 3,000 species of native, non-native and exotic plants and trees – will be holiday-ready during the Garden of Lights Dec.17-23 and Dec. 26-30.
Santa and his friends will be there during this special after-hours event to add to the Seasons’ spirit while nightly musical performances will enhance the experience.
One of the first botanical gardens and tourist attractions in South Florida, Flamingo Gardens was founded in 1927 by Floyd L. and Jane Wray as an orange grove. It evolved over the years and now is also home to a wildlife sanctuary where Florida native wildlife including alligators, bobcats, eagles, otters, panthers, peacocks, and flamingos reside.
The non-profit’s mission is “to depict, preserve, and provide education about the natural and cultural heritage of South Florida and the Everglades in our botanical gardens and wildlife sanctuary.”
Flamingo Gardens requests that guests wear masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines. Note: Santa’s visits are only through Dec. 23. The Garden Of Lights will take place from 5-10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and from 5- 9 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays.
