The fun never stops in Miami Beach! Apr.1 kicks off Miami Beach Pride, a ten-day event that features a pride parade, festival, queer art show and over 125 LGBTQ+ –friendly vendors, businesses, celebrities, musical performances and family-friendly activities. What started off as a 15,000-person event in 2009 is now one of the largest Pride festivals in the country, drawing in as many as 170,000 participants.
Celebrating inclusivity, begin with the flag-raising ceremony at the Miami Beach City Hall, where local leaders come together to support the LGBTQ+ community. On a more somber note, there will be a “Pride Lights The Night” event where the iconic parking lot closest to Alton Road will illuminate colored lights in memory of the Pulse Nightclub shooting that occurred on Jun. 12, 2016.
With so much going on, guests are guaranteed a full ten days of fun. The Fun Dip Pool Party at the Palomar Hotel on Apr. 2 will be one of the highlights. This rooftop event will feature live music from well-known DJs like DJ Deanna and DJ Hex Hector. The Queer Art Show, held Apr. 4 at the Moxy South Beach hotel, will showcase paintings, poetry and photography from LGBTQ+ artists with proceeds going directly to the artists. The Art Deco Museum is hosting a social justice, health and wellness evening on Apr. 6 where members of the LGBTQ+ community will discuss pressing social issues affecting the community.
The Miami Beach Pride Festival is an exciting two-day live music event in Lummus Park taking place on the final days. With multiple stages and free admission, this year's line-up includes DJ Dan Slater, DJ Abel, DJ AJ Reddy, DJ SDOT, Beth Sacks, Latice Perry and many more. Sunday’s headliner, Raye, has written songs for Beyoncé and John Legend is sure to entertain. The celebration culminates with the Miami Beach Pride Parade, where over 50 floats will make their way up Ocean Drive from 5th Street to 15th Street.
