StandWithUs Southeast Region Spotlights Israeli Artists In Their Fight Against Antisemitism
StandWithUs Southeast Region — an international organization dedicated to supporting Israel and fighting antisemitism — will host "Echoes of October 7: Emerging Israeli Artists" Gallery and Dinner Reception on March 10 at 5:45 p.m. at Temple Beth El Boca Raton. This inspiring event will highlight the power of art in combating antisemitism while celebrating resilience, unity and transformation.
Special guest Montana Tucker, an award-winning singer, dancer, influencer, philanthropist and activist recognized for her efforts to educate young people about the Holocaust, Israel and antisemitism, will emcee the dinner.
Since Oct. 7, 2023, when Hamas militants attacked Israel from the Gaza Strip, killing 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages, antisemitism has surged across the United States. This includes boycotts of Jewish creators and violent protests at universities. Israeli artists have poured their grief, hope and resilience into their work to cope with the tragedy and the continued horrors of that day, only to be rejected by major events like Art Basel and galleries nationwide. To ensure these artists’ messages don’t go unnoticed, StandWithUs will showcase and sell their pieces, aiming to shift the narrative around art and prejudice.
“Since October 7, Jewish students have been forced to hide who they are and their support for Israel and Jewish artists are being shunned from galleries,” says Sara Gold Rafel, executive director of StandWithUs. “We won’t stand for that. Art is a universal language and is essential to convey personal and collective narratives. In the wake of the horrors of October 7, it is more important than ever before to share our Jewish perspectives and educate the rest of the world about antisemitism.”
The event will also honor StandWithUs Emerson Fellows and Kenneth Leventhal High School interns, who, through the organization’s powerful tools, work to educate others about antisemitism, combat hate, foster empathy, build awareness and promote dialogue on high school and university campuses nationwide.
“Art is such a powerful and compelling medium to foster empathy, build awareness and promote dialogue,” Gold Rafel says. “We are honored to have this opportunity to not only fight hate with love but share emerging artists’ work that might never have been seen otherwise.”
