It’s rare to meet an artist whose career has been halted — and pretty much reshaped — by life-altering events like war. Yet award-winning Israeli singer-songwriter and actor Idan Amedi has a story that extends far beyond his uplifting and inspiring music.
Amedi, a beloved figure in Israeli culture, is internationally recognized for his role as Sagi Tzur in the hit Netflix series “Fauda.” In Israel, however, he first became popular as a singer, reaching the finals in 2010 of the competition show “Kovach Nolad” (“A Star is Born”). His single, “Soldiers’ Pain,” became an instant sensation, and since then, he’s released six highly praised studio albums, solidifying his place as one of Israel’s top artists.
Following the Hamas terrorist attacks on Oct. 7, 2023, Amedi, who was called to serve in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), was severely injured in an explosion that killed six fellow soldiers from his engineering corps reserve unit in the Gaza Strip. While such a traumatic experience could easily break anyone, Amedi’s strength and determination have driven him to a new, more meaningful chapter of his life. After a rigorous rehabilitation process, he’s returning to stages worldwide, including a much-anticipated performance at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood on May 12.
The singer will captivate audiences with the heartfelt compositions of his latest album, “Superman.” The title track reflects his journey and honors the friends he lost in combat, as well as the medical staff that saved his life and aided in his recovery. Shortly after his injury, he vowed on social media: “I will sing and act again.”
Now, he’s fulfilling that promise.
