Gourmands should mark Oct. 28 in their calendars; that’s when the James Beard Foundation’s (JBF) Taste America series returns to Miami for a special meal.
The dinner takes place at the Wynwood Event Center and pairs Raheem Sealey and Monika Dominguez of Shiso Miami with Sebastián Vargas of Los Félix, Krüs Kitchen and Füm for a collaborative, four-course experience. The chefs bring distinctly different culinary perspectives, creating a menu that blends Japanese-inspired techniques, Caribbean influences and Latin flavors.
Named to the JBF’s 2026–27 TasteTwenty class, an annual list highlighting rising culinary innovators across the country, Sealey and Dominguez are among the nation’s most exciting emerging talents. On this evening, their Japanese-inspired, wood-fired cooking meets Vargas’ creative approach to sustainability, bringing their distinct culinary perspectives together.
Now in its 14th year, Taste America connects diners with influential chefs while furthering the JBF’s mission of fostering a more sustainable and equitable independent restaurant industry. Proceeds from the dinner directly support the foundation’s national programming and advocacy efforts.
