At the Downtown Delray Beach Craft Festival on 4th Avenue, shoppers can browse handmade goods, meet the artists who created them and take home something with a story behind it.
The 31st annual event returns Sept. 26 and 27, transforming Atlantic Avenue and Northeast Fourth Avenue into an open-air marketplace filled with artists and craftspeople selling jewelry, home décor, garden art and specialty gifts.
The Annual Downtown Delray Beach Craft Festival is produced by American Craft Endeavors, sister company to Howard Alan Events, founded by entrepreneur Howard Alan. His unlikely journey into the arts world began after he left his career as a chiropractor and opened a retail shop in Plantation that featured local artists and crafters on consignment. Alan created Howard Alan Events, which grew from small local shows into a major producer of outdoor art and craft festivals across the country.
That emphasis on handmade work remains at the heart of the Delray Beach festival. Artists are selected to ensure visitors encounter original pieces rather than mass-produced merchandise.
