Every November, downtown Miami transforms into a literary playground, and this year, the 42nd edition of the Miami Book Fair, one of the longest-running literary festival in the United States, takes place Nov. 16-23.
The event kicks off with a free block party, offering food from local vendors and, of course, hundreds of books for sale.
The street fair, the festival’s main event, takes place Nov. 21-23 and features an open-air market where book lovers can groove to live music, feast on local bites and browse pop-up bookshops.
Fairgoers can hear from renowned authors like Daniel Silva, who will discuss his latest Gabriel Allon thriller, “An Inside Job.” Country music star Kenny Chesney will share stories from “Heart • Life • Music.” Barry Diller’s memoir, “Who Knew” offers a peek behind the media curtain, and Mercedes Ron’s “Tell Me Softly” brings BookTok drama to life. On Nov. 22, Padma Lakshmi will talk about her latest cookbook at 10 a.m.
Kids can dive into Children’s Alley, where performers, storytelling, hands-on crafts, puppetry and theater — often led by book-loving characters — can be found. Miami’s own literary stars, from Jamaican-born novelist, playwright and poet Geoffrey Philp to Cuban-American poet and educator Caridad Moro-Gronlier, will be in attendance.
Whether you’re chasing autographs, dancing to live music or discovering your next favorite author, the Miami Book Fair turns reading into a full-blown celebration.
