Mark your calendars for Aug. 28-29.
And get ready for Return of Ultracon at the South Florida Expo Center in West Palm Beach. The two-day event is touted as “South Florida’s up and coming comic, vintage toy collectibles and anime convention, featuring comic creators, pop culture stars, cosplayers and new media talent from across the world.”
Among the creatives: voice actress Cynthia Cranz, known for her work dubbing anime. She has also been a part of “Case Closed” and “Rosario and The Vampire,” among others.
Seven artists will be in the lineup including Bob McLeod, Francine Delgado, Jaime Coker and James Mulligan. Watercolor artist Megan Withey, who illustrated “Myths of Legend,” will also be displaying her work, which includes fantasy, pop-culture and Disney fan art.
Actor Vic Mignogna, executive producer and “Captain Kirk” in the web series “Star Trek Continues,” is also part of the convention. Mignogna, who began acting at age 8, is known for his roles in anime series including “Streetfighter II” and “Fullmetal Alchemist.”
Also on tap: A “Thundercats” and “Silverhawks” reunion. It’s the first time in more than a decade for this meetup, according to a Facebook post.
