Nu Deco Ensemble returns to Knight Concert Hall at the Adrienne Arsht Center on April 10, bringing along stars Wyclef Jean and Ledisi for a vibrant 2026 season finale. The program pairs Gustav Holst’s sweeping orchestral “The Planets” with a fresh symphonic suite inspired by the Bee Gees, created by Nu Deco’s in-house writing cohort and guitarist Steve Gibb, son of Bee Gees cofounder Barry Gibb.
Composed between 1914 and 1917, “The Planets” unfolds across seven movements, each named for a celestial body and its astrological character, from the ominous drive of “Mars, the Bringer of War” to the otherworldly calm of “Neptune, the Mystic.” The suite famously omits Earth and Pluto — the latter discovered more than a decade after Holst completed the work — and remains one of the most recognizable pieces in the orchestral canon.
Balancing that grandeur is a contemporary suite that reimagines the Bee Gees’ catalog. Familiar grooves and melodic nods to hits such as “Stayin’ Alive” are expected to appear, filtered through Nu Deco’s signature blend of classical technique and modern flair, with additional help from guest stars Jean and Ledisi.
Known for its genre-bending performances, Miami’s Nu Deco Ensemble brings classical and pop influences together for an immersive, energetic night.
