Paradise is always just a park away in Boca Raton, and this July, the city is celebrating Park and Recreation Month, inviting everyone to step outside and enjoy its many green spaces. With more than 49 parks and recreational areas to choose from, opportunities for exploration are endless, whether you’re in the mood for a laid-back stroll or a full day of adventure.
This year’s festivities include a lineup of family-friendly activities for all ages, like collecting “Where You Belong” stickers at participating facilities, catching live performances at Mizner Park Amphitheater’s “Free Music Fridays” and exploring interactive, hands-on exhibits at the Children’s Science Explorium.
Fitness lovers can make the most of the nearly 900-acre Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park, home to a tennis center, nature preserve and the beloved Coconut Cove Water Park — with a 1,000-foot lazy river, four-story water slides and an interactive playground for kids. Prefer the beach? South Inlet Park and South Beach Park offer the ultimate coastal escape.
For a peaceful nature retreat, explore the Yamato Scrub Natural Area, a birdwatching haven, or stroll through Pondhawk Natural Area, known for its quiet trails, scenic lake views and native Florida fauna and flora. And if you’re craving quality time with loved ones, picnics feel extra special at Sugar Sand Park and Red Reef Park, known for its stunning oceanfront views and proximity to the popular Gumbo Limbo Nature Center.
